Hope House Home for Boys

The cards that I sell here in Chapala and Ajijic, Mexico benefit the dental program for the boys at Hope House in the nearby village of Ixlahuacan. There are close to 30 boys at the home and many of them come to the home having received no dental treatment. If you live here at Lakeside and would like to order a quality, hand crafted card for a special occasion and help me contribute to this worthy cause, please e-mail me at bettyinchapala@yahoo.com Card price is 50 pesos; the entire sales price is donated to Hope House.

Christmas Ornament

I am excited about my post today! This is a Christmas ornament I made for the Flourishes' Timeless Tuesday challenge. We are to make a Christmas ornament or a card that features a Christmas ornament. The lucky winner will receive their entire October release!

I was up in the wee hours this morning and saw the Flourishes' post along with one from Top Tip Tuesday with a tutorial for a zig zag flower. I had first seen this type of embellishment at Splitcoast Stampers (theirs was called a Fan Fold Flower) and I was so grateful to TTT for bringing it to mind, because I knew it would make a great base for my Christmas ornament!

I used Flourishes' stamp set, All That Glitters, to make my ornament. Embossed the ornament with Winter Wonderland Opaque powder so it has a glittery look to it. This is such a beautiful set -- has lovely vintage looking Christmas ornaments.

Now, you know how ornaments sometimes tend to turn when they are on the tree -- well, I decided to decorate the back of my ornament as well so that if it gets turned, it will still be pretty. So, here's a picture of the back
It's not quite as pretty because it's missing the decorative paper on the fanfold base, but if it gets turned around at least it won't be completely plain!

Did you notice that I hung my ornament on a poinsettia to take the photo? We (actually, our gardener)  just recently planted three poinsettias and I'm wondering if they will turn red this year -- if so, I'll post another picture!

Wonderful day wishes to all!
Betty
